History:
Canon history

Due to the unique circumstances present in the AU, Robbie's history both does and doesn't split off from a couple of weeks after filming of the reality show had paused at the end of New Warriors V3. The course of events did in fact, continue as in canon, with the Warriors TV show being given a full run. The Stamford incident occurred, with Speedball getting the lion's share of the blame for it. This set off the Civil War, Robbie became Penance, and things continued on as normal until the Fault was created. Brainiac and Magus attempted to use the Fault as a power source for their own plans, drawing the attention of Kang, who attempted to stop it, as he needed the Marvel timeline to remain stable in order to maintain his own existence.

Heroes from both the Marvel and pre-Flashpoint DC universes, Robbie himself included, went to stop them after their fight and the power of the Fault increased their abilities to godlike levels. In the middle of it all, Thanos fought Kang to a standstill, and, taking the power of the Fault for his own, destroyed both universes as a gift for Death.

With reality collapsing around them, the heroes, remembering previous times they had encountered each other, convince the Living Tribunal and the Spectre to talk to the Brothers, the embodiments of both universes. The Brothers agreed to merge, saving existence.

However, unlike the last time the two universes had merged together, this new universe did not have a unified timeline, nor did it merge separate people into one. On Earth, and elsewhere, populations doubled overnight, cities, countries, and planets appeared out of nowhere, and things generally went to hell in a handbasket.

To make matters worse, the heroes who had been present at the Fault were trapped in stasis outside of time. Eventually, after a year, they started reappearing. While most were from just after the battle in space, and recalled what had occurred there, some who returned had regressed to earlier points in their timelines. Robbie was one of them.

Robbie appeared back on Earth, with hearing that the show had been picked up by a network being the last thing he recalled. This, unfortunately, meant that he wasn't aware of Stamford, nor that his identity had been leaked. He was brought up to date fairly quickly, by the mob who started chasing him down.

Thankfully, Robbie was eventually saved from mob justice by members of the Champions, a team primarily comprised of returned members of the JLA, the Avengers, and several associated heroes.

While many of the Champions from the Marvel side of the universe were, at best, awkward around him, he was able to get to work with the returned members of the Titans, who understood how it felt when tiny mistakes had huge consequences. However, lacking the shared history with the group made it difficult to get close to anyone, leaving him feeling isolated.

Robbie, determined to prevent another incident like Stamford, trained for weeks to get his skill level with his powers up, and once he'd mastered them to an acceptable level, chose a new identity, that of Ricochet.

Additional OC and AU Background: Robbie's current home universe is the result of an incomplete merging of both the Marvel and DC universes. While most of reality has gone into chaos as a direct result of it, Earth is one of the locations most badly affected, as it was one of the few populated places that existed in both universe's. The population doubled overnight, leading to overcrowding. Lack of food became an even bigger issue, as did disease and homelessness, and things certainly weren't helped by the fact that most of heroes didn't return until a year after the merge, leaving people at the mercy of the supercriminals who had stayed behind.

There was massive political upheaval as well, as new countries and cities appeared where there had been none before

Personality: What is the character's personality like? Please take care to talk about both their thoughts and motivations and their outward actions. For AUs, please note how their development diverges from canon.

Canon Powers: Robbie is a living conduit for an infinite dimension of kinetic energy, who can switch between a powerless human form and a superpowered form surrounded by a kinetic field of glowing spheres. While Robbie has the field active, and is not specifically controlling it, the field itself acts as a barrier, repelling physical attacks and projectiles with greater force than applied. Sufficiently strong hits send him bouncing away, and Robbie tends to use that particular feature to bounce himself around, achieving high flying acrobatic feats and using himself as a projectile.

While specifically controlling the field, Robbie can use it to slow down or even stop attacks and projectiles without them sending him bouncing away. Additionally, he can telekinetically control the field, using it to send other people bouncing upward or away at a distance, or use the spheres as a concussive attack.

As his costume, and he himself, are actually made of the same kinetic energy as his field, he's actually able to mentally alter the appearance of his costume, and has done so several times.

Due to his insistence on improving himself so that he does not let something like Stamford happen again, he's also gained a couple of new techniques. Most of these are refinements or better controlled versions of previously mentioned skills, but as part of his Ricochet disguise, he's learned to draw in his field to create a kinetic armor under his costume. This is mostly to maintain disguise or stealth without having to give up the protection the field provides him.

There's also evidence he may be somewhat resistant to telepathic powers.

Game powers: Same as above under the 1 Superbadass Power rating, minus the telepathy resistance.

Abilities: Please list any abilities independent of any meta-powers here. Hacking, martial arts, diplomacy skills, etc. If opting out of powers, please explain the abilities that would allow the character to keep up with powered individuals in the setting.

Setting: How do you expect your character to respond to the setting? What do you hope to do with your characters long-term?

SAMPLES

Prose Sample: 200 word minimum. You may use the following prompt or make up your own. Links to RP samples at other games are not accepted, you must write up a new prompt, but you may use them to supplement your samples. If your character is a quiet character, introspection or inner monologue is fine.

Your character is with the team at a fancy diplomatic party and a UP dignitary (Coluan, naturally, because man, that whole planet seems to be chock fill of arrogant dicks) has called into question the character's ability to be a Legionnaire and whether or not they, some weirdo interdimensional stranger, have the personal character to help protect the United Planets. How do they respond?

Welcome to the Legion, rookie. As a way of helping your character cope with their circumstances and have an optimistic outlook towards the future, the existing Legionnaires want them to record a message to their future self with their thoughts on their current situation, what they hope to accomplish in their time with the Legion, and the first thing they want to do when they get sent safely home or to the dimension of their choice.

Setting: Imagine our world, except populated by people with superpowers, almost all of whom have mild to severe psychological issues. A place where alien invasions happen every other week, and the concept of entropy is personified by a giant purple alien who wears a ridiculous helmet. A place where he main public is easily swayed, and at best tolerates superheroes, and at worst absolutely despises them. Where being born with a certain genetic marker is enough to get you on an immense amount of hitlists.

Personality: The best word to describe Robbie is hyperactive. Even in-universe Robbie is considered to be the comedic relief and kid brother-archetype of the New Warriors, a role he took to with a surprising amount of gusto, mostly because he considers the team to be just as much family as his actual family. He's a little obsessed with fame, having mentally equated it with respect, not understanding that most household name heroes got to that level by by NOT spending half their time showboating. (That isn't to say Robbie is only in it for the fame. Even when the team is seen as a complete joke, he remains proud to call himself a member. Most of his fame-seeking tendencies are actually him trying to get other people to see the Warriors as a great team rather than solely to get himself famous.)

He's friendly and outgoing, makes constant jokes, and is regularly sarcastic to people he doesn't like. Basically, he's Spidey without the massive guilt complex or the genius. Although Robbie IS actually surprisingly smart and clever when he wants to be. (See: tricking the Red Ghost's genius Super Apes into beating the crap out of each other). However, it's only when he wants to be, and unfortunately Robbie has a tendency to be impulsive and not think his actions through, which can lead to major trouble.

When dealing with older superheroes, it's sort of a mixed bag. Spidey is a friend, for instance, but Robbie harbors some mild resentment towards the Avengers, originally stemming from when the media gave the credit to a defeat of a former Herald to the Avengers, when the Avengers only showed up AFTER the Warriors had already won the fight. It's mostly subsided since Vance and Angelica became Avengers, but he's not going to be trying to join them any time soon

Despite everything that's been thrown at him, Robbie stays optimistic. With emotional support behind him, he usually ends up bouncing back from whatever life throws at him. (Penance was the result of a unique set of circumstances, where he was loaded with guilt, had his entire support structure, including his own parents, ripped out from under him, and the entire country was doing it's level best to grind any of his sense of optimism out him)

Like most long-term Marvel heroes, Robbie's been around long enough to be able to take weird things in stride. He'll still think they're weird, but seeing the truly bizarre no longer forces him to try and reexamine his entire world view.

FInally, though they're traits that aren't really important, He loves cats and the taste of hazelnuts, and watches just a little too much TV, although to his credit some of it is legitimately educational programming.

Appearance: Skinny, wiry-muscled young adult, with shaggy, longish blonde hair that floats in the air when his powers are activated.

Abilities: Robbie, as an aspect of the Kinetic dimension, has the ability to produce a kinetic field made of multi-colored spheres of energy. This field renders him immune to attacks that operate through kinetic force, although energy attacks (Such as laser) are able to pass through the field and harm him. When Robbie is not consciously attempting to control the field, he tends to be sent flying by physical attacks. The field allows him to bounce around with absolutely no loss of momentum. It can be used to slow down or speed up projectiles, extended to bludgeon foes or launch them into the air.

Robbie, due to the fact that he's made entirely of kinetic energy, is also immune to psychic attack. He can't be mind-controlled through telepathic means, and it's likely that he can't be telepathically contacted as part of this immunity. (Despite being made of energy, however, he can still be subdued by chemical means, provided one can actually catch him in order to do so)

Turning into Speedball also creates a costume made of kinetic energy that he can alter the appearance of according to his preference. SO far, however, its only been seen in shades of orange and blue. While originally activating the field invariably caused his costume to appear, recently he's been shown to activate his powers while still appearing in his street clothes. Also, though it's not really an ability as such, when his powers are active, Robbie's voice tends to sound sort of hollow.

Inventory: Shirt, pants, shoes, underwear, socks, New Warriors communicator.

Suite: Metal, largely because he's a city kid, originally being from Springfield nonwithstanding. He's also interested in science, having interned at a science lab. Single floor, for no other reason than that he doesn't really need more than that.
